“Where your focus goes, your energy flows.”
If you think about it, watching the nightly news can be depressing. The worst stories from across the globe — delivered right into your home. It seems that out of 7.7 billion people on this earth, there may be more than one story with a positive outcome that could be brought to us. This, to me, is simply a matter of focus.
Let’s say that life is the Internet. They say there are bad things on the internet – pornography, racism, hate… It’s funny though. I don’t find those things. When I am out there, I am looking for information on spirituality, healing, beauty, creativity …and that is what I find. The internet is an incredible source of information and I almost always find what I am looking for.
Life is like that. If you are looking for discrimination, you will find discrimination. If you are looking for inequality, you will find inequality. If you are looking for violence, you will find violence. If you look for love, you will find love. I think you get the idea. You will always find what you are looking for.
Whether we like to think so or not, this is how the Universe operates. You bring into your life what you focus on – it’s the immutable Law of Attraction. How it works is that your deeply held convictions will be shown to you in your environment. For example, that you are not worthy of love. This is not a truth, however, your brain searches out and finds proof that this conviction is true while at the same time blocking from your awareness any information that is counter to your belief.
There are times I would like to disagree with this law when something comes into my life that I really don’t want. Yet, if I can objectively reflect back, I see where my underlying expectation created it even if I wasn’t consciously aware of it. Or even more important – how I handled it due to the expectations I had. The problem with being aware of this law is that you can’t blame someone else for your situation (at least not forever). Remember, with knowledge comes power and only then can you can make the changes necessary within yourself so you can change what you attract.
Try the Negativity Diet (also called brain management). For one week, stay away from anything negative including the nightly news; negative articles and conversations; complaining (you get the idea). Focus on what you appreciate in your life and see what happens. I guarantee you will feel better.
